(200 word children's story based on the meaning behind the country of Grenada's name, "Place of Pomegranates")
Once upon a time, there lived a sad little girl on an island in the middle of the clear blue ocean. She and the other islanders only had the most boring foods to eat. They were dry, tasteless, and had no color to them at all. While everyone around her seemed to be content, the girl wanted more to tingle her taste buds.
One day, after eating the same bland meal they always ate, the girl was walking on the beach when a water goddess rose up to the surface to ask her why she was so forlorn. When the girl explained everything, the goddess placed a blessing on the island. Suddenly, on every tree, there grew a sweet, juicy red fruit. The girl brought one to her mouth and felt her senses fill up with joy. She had never tasted anything more delicious!
"It is a pomegranate," the goddess declared. "It is all I can give you, but now you shall always have something special to treat yourself to."
From then on, scrumptious pomegranates grew on every corner of the island. Everyone loved them, and the girl was delighted to finally have a tasty delicacy to eat.
