Blind-Deaf Experience

The blind/deaf experience was unique, to say the least. Being blindfolded as well as having my hearing reduced due to loud music was disorienting, and I’m grateful that my partner was there to help guide me. It was scary at first, and I walked very slowly with great caution since I did not have any sense of my surroundings and where I was supposed to go, but eventually I got used to it. I held my hands out for a lot of the time in anticipation in case I walked or bumped into something, but my partner made sure that that would not happen. Furthermore, it was a bit nerve-wracking to not know who was around me. My partner actually told me afterward that people would stand in front of me as a joke, so that my pathway would be blocked and I would bump into them, and I had no clue that this was occurring at all. It’s admirable how people who are visually impaired manage to live their lives as they do, because I don’t think I could ever properly go about my daily routine without seeing what is going on in front me.
